Our Installation Process
The specific steps and requirements can vary depending on the type of epoxy product you're using and the manufacturer's instructions. Rollinger Companies always follows the manufacturer's guidelines and safety recommendations when installing epoxy flooring to achieve the best results.
1. Preparation
- Clear the area of all furniture, debris, and dust.
- Repair any cracks or imperfections in the concrete surface using a patching compound or epoxy filler.
- Clean the concrete thoroughly to remove dirt, oil, and contaminants.
- Tape off walls and other substrates.
- Do moisture testing of substrate.
2. Grinding or Shot Blasting
- Use a mechanical floor grinder or shot blaster to mechanically abrade the concrete surface. This step helps to open the pores of the concrete, ensuring better adhesion of the epoxy.
- Vacuum or sweep up any dust and debris created during this process.
3. Installation
- Depending on the epoxy system and manufacturer's recommendations, you may need to apply a primer coat to the prepared concrete surface. The primer helps to improve adhesion and reduce the risk of bubbles or blisters in the epoxy coating.
- Apply the subsequent layers of coatings allowing proper cure times and recoat windows in between each layer of Coating system.
- During the curing process, avoid foot traffic and protect the area from dust and contaminants.
4. Final Inspection
Inspect the epoxy floor for any imperfections or areas that may require touch-ups. You can address minor imperfections.
5. Cleanup
- Remove any tape or plastic left behind from process.
- Clean up work area and property we are working at.
- Walk through with the owner or owners’ representative to get a sign off and acceptance of completion.
